Have you had a look in /var/log/maillog (or wherever you've configured
syslog messages for mail.* to go?); most mail servers tend to be nice 
enough to check half decent messages out to there.

You may need to knock the logging to mail.debug to see them (check your
/etc/syslog.conf, you may already have a log for *.debug - possibly
/var/log/debug).
