I've easily fit a full (desktop orientated) install of Slackware in
800mb.
The only problem you might have is running X with that 16mb of memory.
You can probably run it, but things like Mozilla don't stand a chance...
infact i doubt you'd get NS4.x running that well...

I'd personally use the machine in text mode, but you probably don't want
that :)
