Hello everyone :)

All sorted now

I'd overwritten the modules with the precompiled versions and they 
weren't working at all.  The conflict was between the kernel (being 
compiled with a v3 gcc) and the modules being compiled with the v2.95.3 
gcc (the one used for kernel compilation).

I have retrieved the original modules and the system now recognises the 
card.
