There could be a policy similar to that of lists such as sun-mangers, where 
by subscribers post question, others respond to question privately, and the 
original poster then posts a summary (tagging "[Summary]" or some such to 
the subject) of the responses with a what worked and what didn't.

Obviously this needn't apply for stuff replied to on-list :) sun-managers 
though was strict in the way questions & answers were proposed; therefore
asking posters to summarise private reposnes into "did work" and "didn't
work" may seem a fair thing to do ?
