Hi Neil how are you?

Its nice to know I gave you good advice on the ADSL stuff :-)

My current wireless access point is a SMC EZ Connect Wireless AP SMC2652W
(yes another SMC product) it is a cheap (I paid £50) and cheerful unit that
has 128bit WEP and an external antenna connector (I imagine you could connect
a cable and a higher gain antenna if you wanted). One drawback is that it
does not do MAC address authentication which would be nice. There is an open
source operating system that you can flash the units ROM with to create an
open access point so you could even run open source on your access point if
you wanted ( I don't because the SMC web based config works just fine).

So that is my access point and now for client cards.

I personally think that the Orinoco/ AVAYA Gold card is the best card that you
can get your hands on ( I have bought 3 of the things) the CD that comes with
the AVAYA card even has Linux drivers on it. The cards have a small external
antenna connector on them so you can use a range extender antenna if you need
one and the cards are very well made.

Well thats my 2p worth I hope it helps. I might see you (so to speak) on IRC
if I can get some time.

James
