Not till I'm at work on Monday for my RH9 desktop, here is
a modules.conf from a RH8.0 machine if that is any use...
it has a SB and a built in sound card that I don't use and
it hasn't had alsa from freshrpms installed:

alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias eth0 sundance
alias scsi_hostadapter 3w-xxxx
alias usb-controller ehci-hcd
alias usb-controller1 usb-uhci
alias eth1 8139too
alias sound-slot-0 emu10k1
post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
