Ok since there is a copy of hugin CVS on the webserver anyway, there 
is now a nightly tarball here:

http://hugin.sourceforge.net/snapshots/hugin.tar.gz

ie. this is a straight copy of current CVS, you have to run 
`./bootstrap` to generate the configure script.

This isn't ideal, the tarball should really be created with `make 
dist`.  Last time I tried, hugin had to be compiled first otherwise 
the 'dist' target failed - It isn't practical to do this on the 
sourceforge webserver.

Anyway, it should be good enough for most purposes.
