oh, NO!!! I hate these awkward things

why not simply set up a variable width when there isn't enough space
this should allow 10 times more buttons for the moment (a tooltip could help if the number is too small)

and then, one could have several rows...

and then, it would be nice to distinguish adjacent (linked by CPs) images by a bigger, bold, colored, button...

and then, one could have several rows according to the relative positions of the images...

btw, another idea:
it is not useful to have one row per side if the current tabs are marked diffently
one could select the right image by clicking and the left one by ctrl-clicking
(is that possible in a multi-platform way?)
