[ptx] cvs optimizer not stable?

I had stopped grabbing CVS updates when talk of the new stitcher began
about a week ago.  I was getting good results and didn't want to upset
the setup until everything was sorted out.

I grabbed CVS HEAD today.  Built it clean.  Opened an existing project
created only a week ago, and ran the optimizer ("Everything") on it
again.  It should have remained pretty much where it was, but it shrunk
and moved the pitch=0 line higher.  Each successive run of the optimizer
shrunk the fov again and positioned it at a lower pitch overall.

Clearly, it's not happy with the FOV stored in the project files.  I'm
going to test this against a virgin project too.  I'm hoping it's not
entirely broken.
