strikes, and how we change the world

Workers Liberty Public Discussion Meeting: New-Anti Capitalist Movements: :
occupations, strikes, and how we change the world
Wednesday 25/1/12 7.30pm, University Arms, Brook Hill

The occupy movement has swept North America and Europe over the past few
months, and the slogan 'we are the 99%' has shown that those involved
understand that it is the ruling elite who have the power in society. In the
1990s, the 'Seattle' anti capitalist movement sparked off a decade of single
issue campaigns, and phenomena such as culture jamming, boycotts of big
companies (like Nestle and Nike), and more and more creative anti-capitalist
actions

But is this enough? Can we be united on the basis of who we are not, or do
we need a broader political programme? And what can really get rid of
capitalism once and for all?

Workers Liberty invites anti capitalists of all shades to come and discuss
with us the nature of the new anti-capitalist movement, to hear our views
and discuss your own. Our meetings operate on an open and democratic basis,
and all are welcome.

Indeed, so many people worked so hard and the result was
amazing :-)

I have a lot of audio and photos to sort and have made a
start bu adding some photos to flickr, the group pool,
that others can add to is here:

And all the ones uploaded are here:

There is the audio from the talk on coops here:

- Cooperatives, Credit Unions and Experience of a Social
  Care Coop
  http://sheffield.indymedia.org.uk/2012/01/491482.html

Over this week I'll also add things to the Occupy
Sheffield site.

Graham from the Green Party will be uploading some I
expect, so far I have seeni these:

- Tony Guest's poetry at #Occupy benefit gig
  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Me44aH_vkA

- Julia O'Dwyer Speaks at Occupy Sheffield Jan 2012
  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJEfbLPrCLM

I'm sure more will be uploaded.

There is the audio from the rally here:

- Occupy Sheffield's Rally for the 99%
  http://sheffield.indymedia.org.uk/2012/01/491376.html

And I'll split this into seperate files for each speaker
and add it to the Occupy Sheffield site.

Indeed...

:-)

All the best

Chris
