*Annual Report September 15/17*

AGM held 11th October 2015

Following discussion with numerous reservations it was agreed that
Hazelhurst CSA Co-op was to run as a workers cooperative on six month trial
period. Joan Miller Yvonne O’Donovan and Renate Deiss remained as the only
committee members.

October 2015 recruited a volunteer via VAS as accounting assistant to
support the coop with finance.

December 2015 the Grower, Nick Johnson decided due to very narrow margin of
profit from organic veg growing that he needed to sell his own vegetables
rather than go through the Coop.

February 2016 Kim Davidson the Hazelhurst worker had an opportunity to work
for the Royal Horticultural Society and resigned.

March 2016 following a Hazelhurst meeting, the Hazelhurst Vegbag business
and equipment was sold to Sheffield Organic Growers at a ‘Fair Price of
£600’ to support the continuation of organic vegetable growing on the site.

Since March 2016 no trading has taken place and outgoings such as insurance
payments have been stopped. Webarchtects have archived the website and
this archive can be found at hazelhurst.coop.archived.website/
Webarchtects are currently maintaining the email lists pro bono so that
communications can continue.

January 2016 Following discussion it was decided to look for emerging local
co-operative businesses that could take over the infrastructure of the coop
and if this failed to wind up the cooperative.

February 2016 The 46 Shareholders were contacted and asked if they wishes
to have any remaining investment returned ( estimate at at least 75% of
original contribution)

17 shareholders replied and 13 wanted there investment returned and 4 were
potentially willing for their invest to go into another food based social
enterprise initiative.

March 2017 meeting with 4 members of Regather to discuss a proposal to
utilise the core concept and Hazelhurst founding principles and further
develop local organic food production. At this stage, on Coop Uk advise
this proposal was not followed up.

August 2017 following new developments, Regather now able to proceed with
the proposal which is attached and which will be formally considered at the
AGM on 21 September.

*Election of Officers including Biographies*

Hazelhurst members Gareth Roberts. Helen Nichol, Douglas Kemp and Charlotte
Head are up for election to take hazelhurst into the next phase. Joan
Miller and Yvonne O’Donovan have offered to join the new committee for a 3
month handover period.

Proposed Positions
Chair: Helen Nichol
Treasurer: Gareth Roberts
Secretary: Charlotte Head
Committee Member: Douglas Kemp

*Gareth Roberts *I've been actively involved in Sheffield's local food
system in a variety of ways over the past 10-15 years. Activities have
ranged from attending training courses, keeping an allotment, organising
food related conferences and events and setting up and managing food
related social and co-op enterprises through to sitting on food policy
groups, attending national conferences and working with major city
institutions on developing a sustainable food system for Sheffield. My feet
are firmly planted in the 'grassroots' of social/voluntary/community
activity in the city, and over recent years I have led on the successful
growth of the Regather Co-op enterprise. I'm proud to have been one of the
founder members of Hazelhurst CSA, and would be delighted to have a role in
it's successful future development. I'm a competent business manager and
event organiser, with a shared vision to significantly develop the skills,
jobs and infrastructure needed to transform local food production in
Sheffield.

*Charlotte Head *I am passionate about organic and local food, and the
health benefits of good food for people and planet. Having been involved in
community food growing projects in London, and studying for an Msc in Food
Policy, I decided that I wanted to explore how organic growing could work
commercially. Over a two year 'mature gap-year' 2014-2016, along with Doug
I volunteered on numerous organic farms and smallholdings including Ardfern
Organics in Argyle, La Burra Verde in Andalucia, and Cotna Real Foods in
Cornwall . I moved back to Sheffield a year ago after a six year hiatus,
and now work at Heeley City Farm on heritage and engagement projects. I
have been involved with Regather since spring 2017, and am excited about
the prospect of developing the Hazelhurst CSA and contributing to the good
food economy in Sheffield.

*Douglas Kemp*. I've lived in Sheffield for 7 years on an off. I've just
moved to Heeley with Charlotte. I work for Regather on our Organic veg box
scheme. I'm passionate about organic vegetables and being part of a food
system that challenges the supermarket-led status quo. I'm a very keen
amateur veg grower with some experience of commercial growing through 18
months wwoofing experience in the UK and Europe. I love the community feel
of south Sheffield, have an allotment on the Heeley/Meersbrook site and
occasionally DJ at parties in Sheffield.

*Helen Nicol *I live in Grenoside with my husband and my gigantic cat. I
run Blue Chula, a community, collaboration and change consultancy, which
includes developing a fair few growing projects around the country. I’m
working with Regather to help make our urban agriculture/agricultural park
ideas a reality. I’m a keen grower with 20+ years experience of fighting
with slugs/spider mites etc on farms, allotments and community gardens. I
also make felt art, run crochet classes and I try to play the bass guitar.
I am a competent and experienced organiser, facilitator and chair, and I
would be delighted to have a role in the future development of the
Hazelhurst CSA.
