	Dear all,

	I am writing to you to highlight a forthcoming cross-council programme - see email copied below. I think perhaps your projects under the Designing for the 21st century initiative, which I administer here at the AHRC, may have to a greater or lesser extent some relation to the aims of this call. I thought it worth letting you know in case it is of interest.

	I hope your projects are going well, do let me know if you have any questions or wish to tell me about any events that you think the AHRC may be able to help publicise. For questions on the NDA call the contact details are given in the email below.

	With best wishes,

	Simon.

	Hello,

	The New Dynamics of Ageing programme (cross council programme, led by ESRC) has just launched its final call for applications, the scheme running is Programme Grants and the deadline is 26 June 2008. They are specifically focusing on AHRC and BBSRC subject communities, see the blurb below:

	Arts and Humanities Research Community

	The arts and humanities can make a significant contribution towards the understanding and enrichment of older people's lives. All items on the research agenda of the New Dynamics of Ageing Programme specification are relevant to the arts and humanities, indeed one of the central objectives of the programme is to look at the cultural and historical aspects of ageing and how they can be understood to achieve the maximum benefits for older people. There are key questions within the programme specification in areas as diverse as:

	            * design in the built and technical environment;

	            * self narrative - personal history;

	            * creative arts enhancing the lives of older people;

	            * cultural and creative activity and its link to well-being;

	            * media and cultural representation;

	            * participation of older people in community and the arts;

	            * older people within diasporic communities.

	These are all particularly pertinent for arts and humanities researchers and they are at the forefront of tackling such issues. The programme also gives arts and humanities researchers the opportunity to work with other disciplines to produce multidisciplinary research, (although, for this call, this is not obligatory for each project).

	If you have any queries please forward them to me or Patrick (p.lansley at ahrc.ac.uk) or you can direct them to the ESRC website:

	http://www.esrcsocietytoday.ac.uk/ESRCInfoCentre/opportunities/current_funding_opportunities/NDAprog.aspx?ComponentId=26507&SourcePageId=5964#0

	Our website will be updated about this in the next few days.

	ta
