As attention to 'social and ethical issues' continues both among technology
managers and academics, an important question emerges: what counts as a
social and ethical issue? Is it privacy and security? Or, is it fairness,
equality and justice in access to technology? Is it responsible corporate
governance? Or, is it the challenge of establishing solidarity with others?
Softwars 2006 will provide a forum for discussion on social and ethical
challenges related to technology use.


Submissions may be in the form of full papers (about 5000 words) or position
papers for round table discussion (about 1000 words). Submission details and
call for papers is available at www.soft-wars.org. Representative topics
include, but are not limited to:

 - Domestic and international technology use and adoption
 - Growing up in a surveillance society
 - Social networking
 - Aspects of free speech in a technology enabled world
 - The challenge of emerging technologies (e.g. RFID)

 - Intellectual property and Law Enforcement
 - Datamining the Unknown Unknowns
 - Social and ethical challenges in technology transfer

 - Identity Theft

Submissions can be made in a number of categories: Completed research
papers, research-in-progress papers, case studies, panels and posters/round
