[Cash-outreach-engagement-circle] Invitation to the Inclusive Housing Co-ops Research Project

Dear Jill and Lucy,

I hope this email finds you well.

I’m getting in touch from Community Assets for Society and Housing (CASH), an SE London Community Land Trust bringing residents and local organisations together to create more co-ops. You might have already heard about us as we are based at The Field.

I would like to invite you to help design and deliver a funded research and training project called Inclusive Housing Co-ops.

What is a co-operative?
A housing co-op is a group of people who collectively own and manage their homes. Residents are tenants AND landlords, so rents are low and security is guaranteed in the long term. Co-ops are supportive communities where each person has an equal say in making decisions.

What do we want to find out?
·	How can we more people to benefit from the long term safety and affordability that co-ops provide?
·	How can we make co-ops more equitable, diverse and inclusive (EDI)?

Why are we interested in this?
We believe that co-operatives can offer a genuinely affordable and community minded solution to the crisis we are living in. There are 300 existing co-ops in and around London and we want to help them become more inclusive. We are also passionate about creating new co-ops for people from all backgrounds.

We are looking for both co-operative members and interested individuals from the wider community to form a core group to design a training and research project, including looking for funding and support from external organisations. No previous experience needed just an interest in affordable housing or diversity and inclusion!

As a first step we are planning a drop in info session and then the project will then officially start in November with a workshop facilitated by an EDI expert Milka Fisiha <https://www.linkedin.com/in/milka-fisiha%F0%9F%92%9A%F0%9F%A7%A1-42007464/>.

Drop-in info session: 28 October 1-2pm
Kick-off workshop: 11 November 12-2pm
Location: The Field NX, 385 Queens Road
