[Bins] perl 5.8.0 wonkiness reprise

All,

It appears I'm having the same perl 5.8.0 problem I saw mentioned in the
April archives (subject bins 1.1.20 + perl 5.8.0 wonkiness).  Any
resolution to this?  This a clean install of Red Hat 9 plus all the perl
modules needed off CPAN to get bins 1.1.21 installed.  Any help would be
appreciated.
