[Bins] exif tags questions

When using bins-edit, meta-data are saved in xml files, whereas camera
saves orientation in image file directly. This result in some images
having native correct orientation and other depending on external
resources for this. Is this a deliberate choice ?

The date tag also is inserted by the camera, and appears in generated
HTML pages. However, it doesn't appear in bins-edit-gui for instance.
