Hi Emma - you're doing a fantastic job too!

Our rally will be in Mansfield Market at 5.30 pm. We are trying to arrange entertainment from 4.30 pm and this currently includes a children's choir, youth theatre, Unison musician and we are desperately looking for a brass band to accompany march into town centre. Speakers. Currently we have asked the Rev Keith Hebden to MC the event. Like Stewart we are going for an all female line up. We would like one of the marchers to start us off. We've contact Glenis Willmott, MEP - but we are awaiting confirmation. If she drops out we will be asking Councillor Julie Yemm - Labour. Rev Keith is going to contact Charlotte Hemshaw our local Para Olympian to see if she will speak. We are also looking for a local female NHS / Health workers speaker as we may not get Charlotte.

Food / accommodation - sorted - I'll reply to Geoff's email - but the local MP, Councillors and Trades Council are paying for it and a local primary school head and deputy head are hosting all the marchers. If any marcher specifically requests a bed - this can be arranged - we've had offers for about a dozen but are hoping the school hall, which is sprung, together with mattresses and sleeping bags will suit most.

Local flyer - Stewart has already produced a Mansfield variation on the national one - but we will work on something with a local focus.

Website - under extreme protest (I am too old to do facebook and twitter) I have arranged a yahoo email ann_donlan at yahoo.co.uk which I will endeavour to delete after we have completed the march - and I am sending you a photo - I am the one in the orange scarf.

Other stuff - we've got an offer to have some high vis jackets for marshalls / stewards with People's March for the NHS printed on - an offer we are taking up - these will then be available to be passed on when our leg is completed.

As punishment for asking all these questions and asking me to send you a photo - I am sending you the notes I have prepared for our planning meeting tomorrow. That serves you right!

Ann

Subject: [999nhs-coordinators] COORDINATOR TASKS 24TH JULY - IMPORTANT

  Hi All -

Just a quick update on where we are and what we need from you next. Specific actions have a number next to them.

  ROUTE CLEARANCE
Firstly a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has been working so hard on this! We’re delighted to see our spreadsheet lighting up Green LOOK LOOK!

  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Akvne1dGXFbGdFM2NmJtSzdKQnR0alpsOWFRYmNxb1E&usp=sharing#gid=0

A special shoutout to Joanne Land who has worked hard to get N Yorks signed off, impacting 5 legs of the route. Local co-ordinators, now we have that, it’s back to you to take things forward with rallies, accommodation and publicity.

  COORDINATORS
A big welcome to Sally and Alison who are looking after Leicester to Market Harborough for us. They’re from a local group affiliated to our friends at KONP. They’re not on Facebook, but you can get their contact details from the spreadsheet or by dropping me a line. We are still missing a coordinator for Loughborough to Leicester - if anyone knows anyone suitable based in Loughborough preferably please let me know ASAP. The role would not include route sign off; that’s already done.

  RALLIES
We’d like to hold a central list of rally details that we can use for our national publicity ("22 marches! 15 rallies! Speakers include…" - you get the idea). As such, please do the following…

  1. Update the Rallies sheet in the spreadsheet. We need to know A. if you’re having one B. location and timing C. speakers
  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Akvne1dGXFbGdFM2NmJtSzdKQnR0alpsOWFRYmNxb1E&usp=sharing#gid=31

  2. Confirm speakers centrally please. I think we all know the sorts of folks we are looking for - local campaigners and councillors, celebs etc. We need to just check them quickly so we have a good balance across the country. When it comes to party politics, we need to be a rainbow. And we also have some exciting speakers who have approached us centrally - they could easily end up at your rally.

  ACCOMMODATION
We are guaranteeing accommodation for our 50 ish 300 milers. Food is not being provided. Walkers are aware that we’re not part of a larger organisation, and as such, don’t have a source of funds - they need to be self-reliant. Having said that, all additional offers of help are welcomed and please encourage them! And the great news is that we now have Geoff Dunbar on board who is coordinating both flavours of accommodation (church halls and offers from individuals).

Geoff - do you want to use this email group address 999nhs-coordinators at email-lists.org to get a message out to everyone on how this is going to work?

  PUBLICITY
So as I said in my last email, we need to start pushing with the publicity. We’ve had a website revamp and our mini film will be released soon. We’ve had one great blog items. Get yourself out onto Twitter if you use it and start pushing the march. Have you seen our 999 Gran for the NHS yet? (follow her at @lizgranny11). Of course please retweet anything @999CallforNHS posts too.

  3. LOCAL FLYER - once your route is signed off, you’ll be contacted by Joanna A to get the details for your local flyer (see attached for an example - it’s double sided, A5).

  4. WEBSITE DETAILS - All but two of you owe me this - overdue as of yesterday. If you don’t send me this, I will steal cyberstalk you and steal the worst photo I can find of you off the internet ;-). This is to link up to our town pages/popups for the map of the route. The purpose is to give a local face to your leg of the route, and let marchers etc. know how they can contact you. I need:
  - photo
  - name - however you want to be called on the site
  - email - I’d advise you create a new one and keep your real one for friends and family - mine is emmatyers999 at yahoo.com
  - route

  5. PRESS - Andrew Musgrove needs to hear from you - if you haven’t emailed him do so now please, or your local press release isn’t going to happen! He needs:
  - name
  - age
  - town
  - occupation
  - kids
  - a quote about why you are marching and why people should join

  6. FACEBOOK - once your route is signed off, it would be a good time to start using your local Facebook event page to push out updates:
  https://www.facebook.com/notes/999-call-for-the-nhs-coordinators/march-event-pages/462469203855552

  7. LOCAL STUFF - Please also make sure you are pushing things locally - leafletting, working with local groups, fundraisers etc. It’s all welcome - please take photos and let us know about it so we can publicise about how the campaign is building.

  NEXT UP
We will soon also need to start hammering out the fine details for the legs of the march - directions, who is leading, who is marshalling. I’m also envisaging some sort of Marcher Information Sheet, a one pager to be given out to each walker on the day - if anyone wants to volunteer to pull together a template that would be awesome. We need to be prepared for people to just turn up on the day.

There’s lots of planning going on centrally. Things we are currently looking at include a kit list for marchers, first aiders, transport, tshirts, leaflet and poster printing, national press and other publicity, and some exciting plans for the Westminster Rally.

Please do keep in touch with me via my email address emma_tyers at yahoo.co.uk or on 07814 194765. When you go quiet for a week I get nervous (we have lost two coordinators along the way, please think of my blood pressure).

  Emma
