The National Computing Centre (NCC) is launching an initiative to help
organisations in the voluntary and community sector to benefit from open
source software.



NCC is looking for someone to lead this work. The person will be
familiar with the voluntary and community sectors, open source software
and managing projects. They will be a good communicator and wish to
deliver balanced assessments of open source’s potential contributions.

The post is based in Manchester but requires travel throughout England.
This work is part of the Home Office’s “Change Up” programme (ICT Hub
component)



The work is to be undertaken within the next 12+ months and is intended
to result in many benefits including a self sustaining support network
for open source for the voluntary sector.



This is your chance to make a difference. This is a senior post with a
good salary package dependent on experience. We are looking for someone
who has been seeking an opportunity like this. We want you to be excited

    * To deliver the communications focussed components of the OSHUB
      Programme.

    * OSHUB programme development and delivery, including
          o Planning, monitoring and change management
          o Financial management
          o Quality management
          o Risk management
          o Line management of OSHUB team, offering effective
            management, support and being alert to personal development
            and training issues in line with NCC’s policies and procedures
          o Issuing and managing external contracts for defined elements
            of work
          o Ensuring that systems are in place and provide accurate and
            timely information to meet NCC and external needs

Ensuring that the programme development and delivery is undertaken in
line with organisational policies

*Delivery:*

    * Raise awareness and understanding of Open Source (OS) software
      within key contact groups in the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS)
    * Create and disseminate  VCS specific information about the use of
      OS in the VCS
    * Facilitate meeting VCS needs with OS products and services
    * Establish support channels for actual and potential users of OS

          o Colleagues within the OSHUB programme
