Hi all

Just thought id put in my two cents regards the whole meeting topic/debate.
Ill come clean im an antipodian that used to be a regular fixture at SLUG
(Sydney Linux User Group) at UTS in Sydney a few years back until I
emigrated over here.

Things at SLUG seem to be a bit different to most meetings held around the
place over here(from what ive read and witnessed) in that each months the
meeting was stuctured to a high degree with talks, discussions and a general
q & a session, and then to the pub/curry house/chinese.

I understand that most (B)LUG's don't run like that over here manily because
of the cries of facist hunta's stole my discustion etc et all but I think
its abit OTT. I think I learned more in one night at slug then I ever have
reading post/searching for/or trying to glean information from any other
source. This kind of meeting work's and the advantage's seem to outway the
pitfalls everytime.

Atleast if someone put on a talk about beginning with pearl/digital
photography/manpage&docoFEST stuff you had the oppurtunity of learning from
complete scratch what something was what it did and how to get going in it.

Ok enough lecturing on my part what does everyone think (or even better has
anyone got anything they might want do a talk on), it isnt hard to put on
and it would be worth getting on a bus from the dales so I might actually
bother to turn up and I think they work. Sorry if I jumped on any toes or
stuck my head in where is wasn't wanted but I didn't want to see another
group in the local area go down the same old path.

Kim
