Well, Richard Ibbotson replied to my post. Here is a link his reply:
http://krom.meiring.org.uk/sheflug/mailarchive/2004/08/msg00104.html
You'll notice that he did not answer a single one of my questions. Instead
he repeated his unsubstantiated claims about Slugbug causing trouble and
someone called Richard Stevenson having the authority to decide that there
shall be no mention of it.
I have sent two different replies, one each from two different addresses,
making four posts in total over the course of today. Not one has reached
the list. Other people's posts are getting through within a few minutes of
being sent. It's therefore blindingly obvious that there's some censorship
going on here.
Richard Ibbotson has just aptly demonstrated the very reason why Slugbug
was set up. How very sad.

So the votes so far:
* Six people have no problem with occasional posts to Sheflug to announce a
Slugbug meet.
* One person - Richard Ibbotson - does have a problem.
Nobody except Richard is aware of any problem between the two groups, but
he will not explain what his problem is. He says it would be easier if
slugbug was a banned word, and yet we have several posts from people who
were pleased that we did announce the Slugbug meet. Richard repeatedly says
that mention of Slugbug causes trouble, but has refused to explain what
that trouble is. He says we cannot mention Slugbug because Richard
Stevenson (in New Zealand) says so, but has refused to explain why a guy on
the other side of the world gets to censor this mailing list.
I repeat: No-one at slugbug has any problem with sheflug. Richard Ibbotson
is the only person at Sheflug who has a problem with Slugbug. Sheflug does
its thing, Slugbug does its thing, many people do both things.
Unless the voting changes dramatically, it's clear that the members of this
list do not have any problem with announcing Slugbug meets on this list.
Therefore I will make a short post for the next meeting. This is now a
closed matter.
