Not really, i just padded it out with words as lot, as i do :)

All you'd need:
A simple php/perl news system (write your own or use something like
slashcode)
The time to add news via a web form.
Make up a couple of simple HTML pages with some links and where to find
the mailing list.

I've never used wikis... i thought they were meant for easily formatting
and maintaining a set of documents... i don't see that as entirely ideal
for the front page, but whatever works :)
