I like this more than the other one, but I disagree with "reverts the layout".

What I'd say is, use something similar to what we have in new6/test
mockups, but have all the widgets greyed out and disabled when the
user chooses one of the presets, that way the settings can be
displayed to the user, so they know what that control is actually
doing. Then if they choose "Custom" (I prefer the more friendly word
"custom" to something condescending like "Expert" or "Advanced"), all
the controls light up and you can put in whatever you want.

This is sorta how it works now, we just need to totally revamp the UI
so that it's not a cluttered mess...
