Ok, I used the /showkeys option and inspected the "key.jpg" files.  
They all look like a bunch of noise - no discernible image.  Is that 
how they're supposed to look?  Or did I misunderstand Alexandre when he 
said:

I thought that meant that 16-bit images could now be used as input.  
Where are things going awry?  Any help would be appreciated.
