Does You use vigra-1.2.0 ? All extensions enabled :
--build=i686
--with-tiff
--with-jpeg
--with-png
--with-zlib
--with-fftw ?
--build=i686
.. and right jpeg/png lib for both the stitcher and libvigraimpex.a ?

# vigra-config --libs
-L/tmp/RPMS/vigra1.2.0/lib -lvigraimpex -lm   -ltiff  -ljpeg  -lpng  -lz
