Dear members, customers and shareholders
We promised you a six months update following the AGM in October 2015. Times are changing for Hazelhurst although the original ideas of connecting the community to local organic food production is ever more important. In this context, Hazelhurst Co-op has a lot of potential and we have been looking at new directions it could move in.
Nick, our grower for various good reasons has decided that it is much better for him to run his own vegbag scheme. He has really appreciated the start that Hazelhurst gave him as a new arrival to Sheffield and he is really keen to continue the traditions of community involvement. Nick has made an offer to Hazelhurst Coop to buy our list of customers and so continue the vegbag scheme with its land and community links.
Kim, our part-time worker has just got a new and exciting job with the Royal Horticultural Society and will leave in the next couple of weeks. We are having leaving drinks at the Brothers Arms in Heeley on Friday 15th April from 5.30 pm. PLEASE JOIN US THERE.
At the committee level there is very little resource and no new energy on the horizon.
We remain in a viable financial position. Nick will be doing the packing and delivery of Vegbags on a very temporary basis so that decisions can be made in a timely fashion.
However, we do need to make a short term operational decision fast. We have some proposals and details of these will follow shortly and be discussed at a meeting on Thursday 14th April at 6.30 - 8.30 at 104 Albert Road, S8 9RA. If you can't attend but wish to contribute please phone us for a chat or email
We need to agree a short term plan and a sensible process for the longer term. Details of our current thinking will follow.
