Grow Your Own Media Lab at The Canteen, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria

Fee: £1225 + some travel and accommodation expenses

Deadline for submissions is June 15th 2006

Folly, the media arts organisation, has been staging a series of events,

commissions and opportunities to introduce communities and individuals 
from the North West to the creative potential of low cost media 
production within its Grow Your Own Media Lab workshops.

Folly is looking for artists whose practice is Open Source driven to 
deliver a course of 5 workshops to adult participants with an interest 
in FOSS and multimedia. The course will be hosted at The Canteen, 
Barrow, Cumbria and workshops will take place on a fortnightly basis 
from 11am - 4pm.

Folly is looking for a workshop leader with expertise of FOSS with a 
focus on the dyne:bolic platform. Folly is expecting each workshop to 
focus on one application each week. Past workshops have focussed on 
Audacity, Kino, GIMP and folly is now keen to explore other applications

which may include VJing, DJing, broadcasting, vector graphics, animation

etc.

Folly is open to a proposal which creatively explore the following 
course aims:

to establish, explore and demonstrate methodologies for low cost media 
production using FOSS

to provide access to learning opportunities, artistic inspiration and 
community participation

to explore and encourage greater engagement with Open Source software 
and its creative impact to lead to individual and community enrichment

to create an enjoyable and creative experience
