[alt-sheff-news] Please help to get a Sheffield local TV channel

Hello from www.alt-sheff.org, the guide to Sheffield's radical,  
alternative and ethical business and groups.

THIS IS A SPECIAL APPEAL for support for an organisation that could be  
great for spreading community-level news and stuff, like we try to do  
with Alt-Sheff.... if you agree, please pass this round your friends  
and social networks, thanks. ****The deadline is THIS week (by 13th  
August 2012)****

South Yorkshire could win a bid for its own community TV channel, or  
it could be LOST to a slick business group called "YourTV" bidding to  
run franchises in several cities. (Look it up on Google, it's all  
media industry professionals)

21 new local TV stations will be licensed, and the group behind  
"Sheffield Live" community radio have done SO MUCH to get this -  
originally we weren't even on the list of regions to get a licence. If  
the "Sheffield Live" group runs the channel it will be genuine, local  
voices, diverse, working class, disabled, everyone. If you've heard  
"Sheffield Live" radio, you'll appreciate it's really honestly local.  
The presenters are volunteers. It's very diverse like our community,  
and they play a crazy mix of music - unlike the boring, restricted  
"playlist" of mainstream radio. It's like having proper local shops,  
instead of a "clone town" high street.

SO PLEASE HELP THE BID FOR US TO GET A PROPER LOCAL CHANNEL, NOT JUST  
A SLICK COMMERCIAL ONE. THEY NEED RESPONSES TO PROVE THEIR CASE:
